February 9 - dfree® Devotions for Financial Freedom

Verse
Show no pity. You must purge from Israel  the guilt of shedding innocent blood, so that it may go well with you. Deuteronomy 19:13 NIV

Thought
One of the saddest occasions to witness is the burial of a young person whose death was caused by senseless violence. No parent should ever have that experience. However, many of our cities are experiencing epidemics of violence that are resulting in funerals occurring daily. The number of casualties are comparable to war.

God instructed Moses to take mindless, reckless and fatal acts of violence very seriously. And we should also. In addition to the human suffering inflicted on so many families that are the victims of violence, economic growth and opportunity are significantly stymied by steady streams of violence in any community.

Our individual potential to thrive financially is directly related to the purging of our communities of the plague of violence that has become too common. The innocent shedding of blood is tragic and morally reprehensible. But it is also very expensive. Since violence effects all of us, we all have a stake in making sure activities take place aimed at stopping the violence.

Prayer
"God, use your power to stop the violence among our people and show me the part that I can play in helping you do it. Amen"
