February 13 - dfree® Devotions for Financial Freedom

Verse
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Joshua 1:8 NIV

Thought
This was Joshua's first day on his new job. He had been promoted from the #2 position to the #1 job in the organization. And God wanted him to get started with the right perspective and the right attitude. He wanted Joshua to be thinking about being prosperous and successful.

Anything worth doing is worth attempting to do very well. When we do our work very well, it is reasonable to expect to be rewarded very well. Joshua had the formula for doing just that. He was instructed to remember his moral instruction, to stay focused on God's word 24/7, and then to put his principles into practice.

Great ideas do not guarantee success. Rather its great execution of great ideas that produce successful outcomes. And great execution is execution that is saturated with integrity - doing what is right versus doing what is expedient. There are no shortcuts to success. But someone is always going to accomplish great things and to get great results.  It does not happen by accident. It happens for those that aim high, remain focused and follow God's instructions.

That is what God was telling Joshua. And God said it on day #1.

Prayer
"God, please remind me to keep your words in my mouth, on my mind and in my heart. Amen"
