February 11 - dfree® Devotions for Financial Freedom

Verse
If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. Deuteronomy 28:1-3 NIV

Thought
The last few words of this passage have become famous among Christians. The assurance that God would bless the faithful in the city and in the country (the field) is so inspiring. And inspiration breeds hope and hope is the fuel that powers the engines of our dreams.  To know that God gives us the capacity to be successful in any environment is such an inclusive image of God that we can all be assured that no person, no pursuit and no plan will be left out.

Unfortunately, however, we ignore the first part of the message too often. So many people have heard about the promise but not enough are familiar with the prerequisite. God promised extreme blessings as the “then” part of an “if, then” proposition. God said that if we “carefully follow all of his commands,” then we will be the recipients of these extraordinary blessings.

As we set our sights on divine possibilities, we must also set our hearts on Godly responsibilities.

Prayer

“God, thank you for including me in your promises even when I fail to include you in my plans.  Amen.”
