January 25 - dfree® Devotions for Financial Freedom

Verse
Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 25:17 NIV

Thought
It is possible to do well and to do good at the same time. Examples abound of people that have started ventures, made millions of dollars from those ventures, and treated their employees and their customers extremely well. These are the people that make free enterprise the preferred economic system of the world.

Unfortunately there are others that care more about doing well than doing good. They will do anything to make a buck and they treat people as disrespectfully and inhumanely as they get away with treating them. These are the people that give free enterprise a bad name.

Government regulations are designed to protect people from unscrupulous businesses and business practices. But it is impossible to regulate every business and every transaction. God's instructions that people not take advantage of one another included the reminder that people are accountable to God for the way we treat one another. And if we expect God to bless us with opportunity and advancement, we should remember that God is our Divine regulator and God cares about how we treat each other.

The best advertisement in the world is word of mouth. When we treat people God's way and never take advantage of their desperation, their ignorance or their need, they will spread the word quickly and we will do very well indeed.

Prayer
God, I pray that I will never treat people in a manner that deviates from your standard. Amen."
