January 8 - dfree® Devotions for Financial Freedom

Verse
"Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him." Genesis 26:12 (NIV)

Thought
The problem many of us have is deciding what to believe as being possible. That is what makes the Bible so difficult for many of us. Is it really possible that Isaac planted crops and in the same year had a harvest that was one hundred times larger? Forget one year - is it possible to have an increase of one hundred times our original investment?

Well consider Coca Cola. If someone had invested $40 in one share of Coca Cola stock in 1940, their investment today would be worth $9.8 million dollars! $40 in 1940 money would be $531 dollars today. And there are companies today that are growing equally as fast and offering substantial returns. Unfortunately, too many of us see the stock market as being for the rich and the famous. The truth is that some of us spend $531 a month at bowling alleys, in night clubs or on lottery tickets. $531 dollars invested wisely could yield us more than the one hundred fold that Isaac yielded from his crops. The difference between Isaac and us is that he believed that the crops would yield a harvest and we are wondering if it's possible.

It says that the Lord was with Isaac. If we believe that the Lord is with us, then we should also believe that the Lord will do for us what the Lord did for Isaac. If the stock market can get the results that it has gotten, what more can the God that gave human the intellect to create the stock market provide?

Prayer
"Dear God: Give me the ability to believe in the possibilities that seem impossible. Amen."
